This research is undertaken to obtain experimental data for some working refrigerants and to determine the pressure drop, local heat transfer coefficient, and flow pattern of these refrigerants during their evaporation in some small-channels. The effects of mass flux, heat flux, saturation temperature, inner tube diameter, and tube inclinations on the pressure drop, heat transfer coefficient, and flow pattern will be presented. The pressure drop, heat transfer coefficient, and flow pattern of the present working refrigerants will be compared in some experimental conditions. Also, the experimental results will be compared with the predictions from several existing pressure drop, heat transfer coefficient, and flow pattern prediction methods. Due to the limitations of the existing correlation for forced convective boiling of refrigerants in inclined small-channels, new correlations of pressure drop and heat transfer coefficient for refrigerants two-phase flow boiling in small-channels will be developed in this research. The research result will be useful for heat exchanger design. Collaboration with Waseda Univ and Univ Teknologi Malaysia.
