The 12th Regional Conference on Computer and Information Engineering (CIE) under “Innovative and Data Technology through Science and Technology/10th Anniversary of Department of Computer Engineering and Information Technology,” was successfully held in Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic on November 25-26, 2019.

The conference was commenced by welcoming remarks from Professor. Dr. Vimane Phoummavong, Vice President of Faculty of Engineering, National University of Laos (NUOL), followed by opening remarks from Mr. Yoshiharu YONEYAMA, Chief Representative of JICA Laos Office. The conference began with the presentation from Mr. Keonakhone Saysuliane, Director General of Department. Department of Digital Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Lao People’s Democratic Republic on “Computerization Process Development in Lao PRD.”

Four Keynote Speakers; Prof. Dr. Kazuhiko HAMAMOTO, Dean of School of Information and Tele-Communication Engineering, Tokai University, Prof. Dr. Jun MIURA, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Toyohashi University of Technology (TUT), Prof. Dr Yoshikazu MIYANAGA, Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, Hokkaido University and Dr. Sataporn Phomwong, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), took turn to deliver their speech prior to paper presentation session.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Sunu Wibirama, the Editor-in-Chief (EIC), gave an outstanding presentation on ASEAN Engineering Journal (AEJ) Promotional Session that the journal was well acknowledged.

The regional conference has received tremendous support and it was attended by more than 80 participants from across ASEAN countries and Japan, including scientists, researchers, students, directors, head of the department from several institutions, and leaders from the Computer and Information Engineering whose commitments and supports have drawn attention and eager participants from the delegates.

This event would not have been a success without the hard work and devotion of the organizing committee from National University of Laos. AUN/SEED-Net would like to express our sincere gratitude to the organizer for everything that was put towards RCCIE2019. It was a great opportunity for the participants to present their research outcomes and exchange fruitful ideas toward sustainable future of the network in Computer and Information Engineering field.
