
The 11th AUN/SEED-Net Regional Conference on Environmental Engineering 2018 was organized successfully by Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on September 26-27, 2018 under the theme “Enhancing Sustainability and Resilience under Anthropogenic Pressure and Climate Change”.
More than 150 Participants from our network institutions and others from public and private sectors across ASEAN region as well as Japan attended the conference. The session kicked off with keynote lecture by Assoc. Prof. Chihiro Yoshimura from Tokyo Institute of Technology, followed by Dr. Hul Seingheng from Institute of Technology of Cambodia. They shared experiences on the SATREPS project started in April 2016 with 5-year research period in order to provide technical supports for long-term management of the water environment of Tonle Sap Lake.
Then, parallel sessions were started, it attracted a number of audiences with interesting presentations, fruitful discussions and knowledge sharing on topics such as lake environment, hydrology and water resources, water quality and ecology, and natural resource management. An open opportunity is given to and encouraged participants to execute future collaborations and define platforms for their future research.
The 7th Field Management Meeting (FMM) was also held to discuss the operation and future direction of Environmental field activities. The participants of FMM were representatives from ASEAN Host Institutions, Japanese Field Supporting Universities, and AUN/SEED-Net Secretariat.
On the second day, Prof. Shigeo Fujii from Kyoto University, Prof. Satoshi Takizawa from the University of Tokyo, and Prof. Marc Bidan from School of the University of Nantes brightened the main meeting room with interesting keynote lecture sessions. Then, parallel sessions were started again. At the end of the conference, AUN/SEED-Net had the opportunity to introduce everyone to the programs and activities run by JICA project for AUN/SEED-Net in Phase IV.
There are 2 more conferences under AUN/SEED-Net support this fiscal year, Regional Conference on Chemical Engineering and Regional Conference on Computer and Information Engineering. Both conferences will be organized in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Do not meet the chance to participate in the conferences. We look forward to meet you there!
