Graduate Degree Program

AUN/SEED-Net Graduate Degree Program provides opportunity for young professionals and faculty members of Member Institutions (MIs) to pursue graduate degrees in 10 engineering fields. The program aims to enhance capacity development in science and technology across ASEAN by mobilizing human resources in the region and Japan. AUN/SEED-Net offers scholarships and research grants which targets young and prospective faculty members to continue their career as teaching staff.

Scholarships provided under Graduate Degree Program consist of;

Master’s

A two-year Master’s Degree Program at Host Institutions in ASEAN targets young professionals who wish to further their graduate study and become faculty members at MIs.

Benefits:

    • Collaborative Research (CR); research grant with a maximum of $3,000 US support

PhD Sandwich

With full scholarship for three years, successful applicants of PhD Sandwich Program are trained at Host Institutions in ASEAN and conduct their research work at Japanese Supporting Universities.

Benefits:

    • Full scholarship
    • Monthly allowance
    • Health and life insurance
    • Short-Term Study Program in Japan (SSJP) with a maximum of eight months
    • Collaborative Research (CR): research grant with a maximum of $6,750 US support

PhD Japan

This program aims to provide young professionals and faculty members with high potentials the opportunity to pursue a Doctoral Degree at one of the Japanese Supporting Universities (JSUs).

PhD Singapore

AUN/SEED-Net offers scholarships for successful applicants selected for the Doctoral Degree program at National University of Singapore (NUS) or Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Priority is given to young faculty members who intend to pursue the professorship at Member Institutions (MIs) after graduation. Scholarship duration is four years.

Integrated PhD

This four-year Integrated PhD Program is designed to provide a fast track for applicants with distinguished academic record in their undergraduate level to pursue a Doctoral Degree at Host Institutions in ASEAN. The program, combining Master’s and Doctoral Degree, is offered at specific Host Institutions.

Progress Report and Study Plan

Progress report and study plan aims to ensure students’ study progress and well beings. To help monitor the students’ progress, students are required to complete and submit the Progress Report and Study Plan to AUN/SEED-Net at the end of every semester.

Postponement

This ‘Request Form for Postponement of Return Date’ is for students who need to postpone their return dates from the Host countries to their home countries for a maximum period of two months for Master’s students or three months for Doctoral students after the scholarship end date.

Students shall fill in this Form and acquire (1) Endorsement from Advisor, (2) Comments from Advisor and (3) Plan of research or other study-related activities after the scholarship end date.

The completed form shall be submitted to AUN/SEED-Net along with the research plan and other supporting documents at least one month prior to the end of scholarship period.

Postponement Request Form

Extension

This ‘Request Form for Extension of Scholarship’ is for Doctoral Degree Sandwich students who need to extend their scholarships beyond the scholarship contracts for     a maximum period of six months.

The request for extension is limited only for the purpose of completing the study.

Please note that extension of scholarship is not encouraged under any circumstance, and that extension leads to reduction of budget for other AUN/SEED-Net activities.

Students shall fill in this Form and acquire (1) Endorsements from Advisor, (2) Endorsement from Dean or designated person and (3) Comments from Advisor

The (4) draft thesis and (5) detailed research plan during extension period endorsed by the Advisor (using a table shown in page 5) must be submitted to AUN/SEED-Net along with this request form two months prior to the end of scholarship period.

What is emergency?

  • A serious, unexpected, and often dangerous situation requiring immediate action.
  • AUN/SEED-Net cares about our students’ security. We have emergency procedures to ensure the safety of all students in each location where the Host Institution is located.

Emergency Procedures

1. JICA Office

  • Responsible for safety check of all SEED-Net scholarship students in case of emergency.
  • Contact with the student representatives at all the Member Institutions to confirm the safety of the students

2. Student Reps

  • Responsible for safety check of SEED-Net scholarship students assigned at a Member Institution.
  • Contact with the students to confirm their safety.

3. Students

  • Responsible for reporting in case of emergency.
  • Report the situation to student representatives.

4. Student Reps

  • Summarize the reports gathered, and inform JICA office the results of the safety check.
  • Contact with students again if the safety is not confirmed.

5. JICA Office

  • Take secondary safety measures, if necessary, following the safety check.
