Abstract:

Empty fruit bunch (EFB) is an agricultural waste by-produced in palm oil industry. It causes pollution and generate CO2 and contribute to global warming according to conventional disposal which is natural decomposition or combustion as low grade fuel for boilers. This project converts the EFB into value added products activated carbon fiber for environmental application such as water remediation and heavy metal removal. Industry linkages, international linkages with Toyohashi University of Technology (TUT) and Hokkaido university were enhanced. Through this project, PhD graduate skills from TUT is transferred. This research contributes to enhance proper waste disposal, Reduced pollution, Value added product, biofriendly products
