The Joint Review Committee (JRC) meeting successfully turned its page to Thailand on 17 May 2016. Held at Pathumwan Princess Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand, the meeting was graced by Office of Higher Education Commission (OHEC) with its warm welcome and professional chairmanship. Apart from OHEC, the meeting was further made productive by the attendance of esteemed delegates from Thailand, Embassy of Japan, Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Thailand Office, ASEAN University Network (AUN), five Thai Member Institutions; namely, Burapha University (BUU), Chulalongkorn University (CU), King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), Kasetsart University (KU), and Thammasat University (TU), and the AUN/SEED-Net secretariat.
The JRC was deemed a platform to discuss current challenges in Thailand, such as cost sharing, new screening process, and students’ quality. Also actively mentioned during the meeting were the anticipative collaboration between the Thai counterparts and the AUN/SEED-Net secretariat and potential framework of the secretariat and its sustainability after Phase III. Resourceful hearing, constructive comments, and valuable ideas were fruitfully produced during the meeting.
