On October 2 and 3, 2019, National Institute of Geological Sciences, College of Science, University of the Philippines (UP-NIGS), the 11th Regional Conference on Geological and Geo-Resources Engineering was successfully held at Eastwood Richmonde Hotel, Quezon City, Philippines.

Innovations and Emerging Technologies for Responsible Mineral Resource Development” was the theme of the conference where various research outputs related to Geological and Geo-Resources Engineering were presented.

The conference was commenced by welcome remarks from Prof. Dr. Carla Dimalanta, the Conference Chair, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs for Research National Institute of Geological Sciences, College of Science, University of the Philippines (UP-NIGS) followed by opening remarks from Mr. Yoshio Wada, Chief Representative of JICA Philippines.

Keynote speech from Prof. Dr. Tsutomo Sato, Faculty of Engineering, Hokkaido University and Dr. Rogel Santos, OIC Mining Operations and Exploration Manager, MacroAsia Mining Corporation, were delivered prior to paper presentation session.      More than 30 research outputs and 14 poster presentations were presented by researchers from ASEAN countries and Japan throughout the conference sessions.     The presentations featured various topics such as Mineral Resource Potential for Innovative Industries in Southeast Asia, Geochemical Techniques Applied to Environmental Issues, Techniques for Geohazards and Resource Assessment.

Last but not least, Field Management Meeting (FMM meeting) was organized in the way in which it delivered satisfactory outcomes in constructive discussions among managements in Geological and Geo-Resources Engineering field. It can be concluded that the RCGeoE 2019 truly proved as a fruitful platform for sharing updated news and technologies as well as strengthening relationship and expanding the network of AUN/SEED-Net.
