Abstract:

One of the challenges in pulmonary radiology and interventions is image-guided system for bronchoscopy. It is an integration of imaging technology and bronchoscopy system. The added values of this integration are in generating a more accurate and comprehensive information about the observed thoracic region and navigating the bronchoscopy to reach the target in a more effective way. With this scheme, management in respiratory disease can be improved significantly and the survival rate of the sufferers can be increased dramatically, resulting in a better healthcare system in Asia-Pacific region. The research project brings a great impact on the new field of research direction that combines soft robotics, imaging, and medical application. Staffs and students exchange during research internships and works have given big changes in understanding exploring the new fields in more comprehensive point of views. The research project brings tangible changes in performing research collaboration between Malaysia and Japan Universities with technology transfer, learning culture exposure, and more networking possibilities. The research project brings about a new paradigm in bronchoscopy product. We have introduced a new bronchoscopy product that has better performance and features that provide higher degree of freedom with safer and softer structure, enabling for improving the healthcare service in interventional pulmonary procedures.
