Members of the JICA Project for AUN/SEED-Net: Consortium of Master in Construction Management (MCM) led by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) participated in the virtual conference to present the research findings.

On October 30, 2021, the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT), and Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), Vietnam, organized the Second International Conference on Sustainable Civil Engineering and Architecture 2021 (2nd ICSCEA 2021) via the Zoom platform. The conference was sponsored by Springer, with the reviewed papers being published in the Springer journal. The aim of the conference was to facilitate better collaboration and cooperation between Vietnamese and worldwide scientists in Civil Engineering and Architecture. The organizers anticipate that similar conferences will take place every two years to create an innovative space for scientists in Civil Engineering and Architecture to share, exchange, connect, and build a better world. As a developing economy, Vietnam considers Civil Engineering and Architecture to be key fields, enabling the country to quickly develop and modernize its infrastructure. The ICSCEA conference covers almost all fields of Civil Engineering and Architecture, including Computational Mechanics, Structural Dynamics, Wind Load, Earthquakes, etc.

Despite the ongoing COVID-19 situation, the 2nd ICSCEA 2021 successfully attracted around 200 participants from various institutions. The conference included a parallel session on “MCM CEP: Construction Management and Structures” chaired by Prof. Hiroshi Katsuchi, from the Department of Civil Engineering, Yokohama National University. This virtual conference provided a platform for MCM partners, students, and MCM South Asian partners to participate, exchange engineering knowledge, and promote fruitful discussions among academicians. We would also like to congratulate Mr. Banlasan Austria Denver, our MCM CEP student, who received the Best Presentation Award for his CEP session.

JICA Project for AUN/SEED-Net would like to express their sincere gratitude to HCMUT for arranging the conference. It not only provided a valuable opportunity for students to present their findings and exchange knowledge but also marked a significant milestone in the successful contribution of MCM to academic society.
