AUN/SEED-Net together with the Institute of Plantation Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia, organized the 1st International Conference on Plantation Technology (ICPTech 2021) in conjunction with the 14th Regional Conference on Computer and Information Engineering, from November 23–24, 2021.

Regional Conferences of AUN/SEED-Net in various engineering fields have long been hosted by leading Member Institutions across the ASEAN, but this was the first time the Institute of Plantation Studies has hosted the Regional Conference on Computer and Information Engineering under the theme “Accelerating Mechanization and IoT Adoption for Sustainable Plantation”. One of the purposes of this conference was to bring together academics, scientists, policymakers, and industry players in the country’s plantation sector to discuss current issues pertaining to technological development and the socio-economy. It is hoped that this event will ultimately lead the plantation industry to advance toward achieving the sustainable development goals of the United Nations (SDGs).

This event would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the Institute of Plantation Studies, UPM organizing team. Everyone at AUN/SEED-Net would like to thank the organizers for their contribution to the success of the event. It gave the participants an excellent opportunity to present their research findings and discuss fruitful ideas, contributing to the network’s long-term future in the field of Computer and Information Engineering.
