Abstract:
Information and communication technology (ICT) plays a very important role for enhancing the quality education in the modern international academic perspective. However many schools in rural area of Cambodia cannot access to neither internet nor content for the fundamental subjects related to science and engineering education. Our proposed research aims at establishing the long distance connectivity for enabling internet service and e-learning. The proposed research will be beneficial to the students and teachers at upper secondary schools by making the available information resources through ICT development for rural area in Cambodia. The project has three specific activities:
– Define practical model for long distance connectivity. This may include the following; design prototype, build antenna, TRX protocol modification, design smart charger controller, RF measurement (base station antenna closer to the ground but tilted toward the sky), site survey, etc.,
– Test and experiment in order to evaluate the performance of proposed system are conducted. Some modification can also be made to get the best performance. The data will be collected and analyzed.
– Develop content of e-learning for science and technology for upper secondary schools.
The research enhances cooperation with Japanese professors (exadvisor), with expert from other universities in ASEAN (e.g, University of the Philippine), strengthening collaboration among teamwork and local peoples. Research outcome makes ICT available to school in rural area; sharing elearning contents; dissemination and enhance technology awareness.
