The research topic is the first trial to clarify the relationship between Solar Home Systems (SHS); Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) and economical gain for individuals by considering the technical constraints of the grid that could then lead to the establishment of an effective FIT policy. The project has two mains objectives.
The first objective is to assess the economic viability of the SHS and BIPV connected to the grid. It aims to establish a guideline for sizing an economically viable solar home system and BIPV and to investigate its effect on the mutual exchange of energy between the consumers and the grid during a specific period of time.
The second objective is to assess the technical impact of mass integration of SHS and BIPV into the grid network. It aims to answer to the question to what level the grid can absorb the power produced by SHS and BIPV without significant technical impact on the grid. This type of study is very specific to local situations.
