On November 24, 2016, H.E. Yuok Ngoy, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, presided over the opening ceremony of “The 4th AUN/SEED-Net Regional Conference on Energy Engineering” in Phnom Penh. The Conference was organized by Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) during November 24-25, 2016 with financial support from AUN/SEED-Net.
In his opening remarks, H.E. Yuok Ngoy underlined the significance of advancing science and technology for development of Cambodia, and that AUN/SEED-Net has played a critical role in providing a robust platform for ITC’s faculty members over the course of 15 years of the project.
Representing ITC, Prof. Dr. Om Romny, Director General, also attributed the continuous success of its institution to AUN/SEED-Net in providing its faculties master’s and PhD scholarships as well as research grants over the past decade.
This year’s keynote speakers included Prof. Dr. Hideaki Ohgaki, Prof. Dr. Keiishi Ishihara from Kyoto University, Prof. Dr. Jun Tanimoto from Kyushu University, and Mr. Ran Seihakkiry from Electricite Du Cambodge who is also AUN/SEED-Net’s alumnus.
Participants including faculties, researchers and graduate students from ASEAN countries presented their research works in multidisciplinary themes of energy engineering throughout a 2-day single session where presenters could further develop their works from comments and recommendations from the audience.
AUN/SEED-Net provides financial support for its Member Institutions to organize international conference on 10 engineering fields every year. The conference aims at creating fora for researchers to present their research works, leading to knowledge exchange and sharing of science and technology between ASEAN and Japan.
