The COVID-19 pandemic has put the global community into home quarantine to minimize and avoid the risk of contagion. To adapt to the new normal, systems and operations should be flexible to the setup where most of the activities are conducted on the cyber space. Manual operations of industries may shift to automation that will require smart technologies. Physical product and service delivery could be migrated to online systems. The change to the new normal will also require adjustments in energy production to address the increase in demand. This evolving reality challenges mechanical and manufacturing engineers to apply smart and cyber technologies in their professions, leading to the theme of this year’s conference.
