ASEAN students under the PhD Singapore Program, a collaborative program between AUN/SEED-Net and two universities in Singapore, National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), participated in a monitoring and orientation visit of the Secretariat of AUN/SEED-Net led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kasem Choocharukul, AUN/SEED-Net Assistant Executive Director, on March 10, 2015 at NUS and on March 11, 2015 at NTU respectively.

For 2014 intake at NUS, there is one Philippine student enrolling under the Computer and Information Engineering and one Malaysian student under the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. And for 2014 intake at NTU, there are two Thai students and two Vietnamese students enrolling under the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. During the visits, current and new students shared experiences on their livings, studies and thesis update. The comments of each visit were discussed with NUS and NTU faculty staff respectively for better understanding and further improvement of student?s study progress.

The university monitoring visits are conducted annually in all Host Institutions in ASEAN. The main objectives are to meet students as well as their advisors to update study progress and to share information of AUN/SEED-Net programs.

n addition, the Secretariat took this opportunity to discuss about the Future Plan after Phase III with NUS and NTU focal points. The former included Prof. Dr. Chua Kee Chaing, Prof. Dr. Quek Ser Tong, and Prof. Dr. Victor Shim while the latter consisted of Prof. Dr. Er Meng Hwa and Prof. Dr. Alex Cot. Their useful comment would be taken into consideration for the sake of the project. The Secretariat also made a visit at Prof. Dr. Victor Shim?s Mechanical Engineering Laboratory at NUS. The cordial welcome at NUS and NTU greatly touched the Secretariat who was truly thankful for their hospitality.
