AUN/SEED-Net was awarded by Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) for the contribution to higher engineering education of Indonesia and ITB. The event titled “Commemoration of 96th Year Indonesian Higher Engineering Education” took place on August 20, 2016 at ITB campus in Bandung. ITB was established as the first higher engineering educational institution in Indonesia in 1920. Due to its historical background, the annual commemoration ceremony has been held to award individuals, groups of people and organizations to recognize their contribution to higher engineering education. Awardees are selected by the Committee chaired by Vice Rector and representatives nominated by faculties.

The event started off with two lectures by Prof. Dr. Ir. Kadarsah Suryadi, Rector of ITB and Ir. H. Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Industry of Indonesia. AUN/SEED-Net, the only organization this year, was awarded for the Ganesa Wirya Jasa Adiutama. The Rector presented the medal and plaque to all awardees while Minister, ITB Board Chair and ITB Senate Chair congratulated and thanked each of them for their contribution. Among 29 awardees, three were non-Indonesian professors from Japan, Australia and Malaysia.

This award underscores commitment and common goals of AUN/SEED-Net and ITB to work toward enhancing higher engineering education in Indonesia and ASEAN region.
