Congratulations to Prof. SATO Yasuhiko (Waseda University) and Dr. Tidarut Jirawattanasomkul (Kasetsart University), our alumni of Collaborative Research with Industry (CRI) program, for their successful research project proposal with Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS).
The proposal, entitled “The Project for Development of Integrated Infrastructure Maintenance Technology considering Natural Disaster Risk” under the research area of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, has been selected as one of the 12 awarded projects in SATREPS for Japanese fiscal year 2020.
SATREPS, representing the collaboration between JICA, the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED), is a science and technology diplomacy initiative. The program aims to promote transnational research projects that incorporate advanced Japanese science and technology, and are jointly conducted between Japan and developing countries.
The selected proposals evidently highlight SATREPS’ goal to acquire the new knowledge (in areas such as environment and energy, bioresources, disaster prevention and mitigation, and infectious disease control), which addresses global issues and can be utilized for the benefits of the society. The mentioned new knowledge could be achieved through these transnational research projects, including the capacity building activity between researchers and research institutes that bases their focus on the local needs in developing countries.
JICA Project for AUN/SEED-Net is delighted to hear and proud to share another successful story of our alumni. As our celebrated motto says “Plant the SEED of Future, Grow ASEAN-Japan for Sustainability;” we are glad to support and nourish all our seeds towards their future achievements and growth.
