The Regional Conference in Civil Engineering (RCCE) 2018 was successfully organized, in conjunction with the 4th International Conference on Sustainable Civil Engineering Structures and Construction Materials (SCESCM), during September 5-7, 2018, in Yogyakarta. The credit for this success mainly goes to the host of the event — Universitas Gadjah Mada.

More than 20 papers from ASEAN member countries were presented in the RCCE this year. Together with the SCESCM, the total number of paper presentations was over 100. Apart from the conference held indoor, a half day was dedicated for a technical tour at Prambanan temple where all participants could immerse themselves into the Javanese culture and at the same time observe the damage of the temple as a result from the major earthquake back in 2006 as well as the techniques used on the reconstruction of this historical heritage. This joint conference proved to be a truly crucial platform to strengthen a learning environment, to share the latest research findings and to disseminate the most updated technology in the field of civil engineering. And we are not stopping here; please stay tuned for more of such events to come in the future, in corresponding to AUN/SEED-Net’s focus on building a sustainable network among ASEAN nations and Japan.
