Abstract

“The research project proposes investigation on principle properties of concrete and the durability of the concrete using steel slag as aggregates. The steel slag after classifying and screening is used to replace total coarse aggregates in the concrete. The principle properties of the concrete investigated include the workability, compression strength, tension strength, young modulus, chloride diffusion coefficient, charge passed and expansion. Using steel slag coarse aggregate can produce concrete with grade of up to 80MPa. However, the workability of the fresh concrete is reduced. Also, the durability of steel slag coarse aggregate concrete is decreased as exposed to the chloride environments which are acid or salt.”
