Abstract

Motorcycles emit substantial quantities of hydrocarbons (HCs), carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and some particulate matter (PM). These pollutants have significant adverse health effects and deteriorate environmental quality. The contribution to urban air pollution where these motorcycles are in use has become an increasingly common phenomenon, especially in big cities. The amount of emissions emits during operation of motorcycle is affected by many factors such as engine qualities, technologies and operating condition. This project aims to estimate the gaseous emission factors, to investigate particle emissions from in-use motorcycles and to provide data for motorcycle emission models.
