The 6th AUN/SEED-Net Regional Conference on Natural Disaster(RCND2018) was successfully organized by Universitas Gadjah Mada(UGM) in conjunction with the 21st Congress of International Association for Hydro Environment Engineering and Research-Asia Pacific Division(IAHR-APD) under the theme “Multi-perspective Water for Sustainable Development”. The conference was held at Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta during 3-5 September 2018. AUN/SEED-Net would like to express our sincere appreciation to UGM for hosting the event as well as extend our gratitude to all parties and participants involved. The conference could impressively attract an approximate number of 250 participants across Pacific region this year. Both international and local participants represented such a strong interest in the event as the conference was not only equipped with intense panel discussions, but also showed grand exhibition initiated by our joint partner as well.

The Welcome Speech was delivered by first Prof. Dr. Nizam, Dean of faculty of engineering at UGM, second Prof. Dr. Radianta Triatmadja, Chairman of the local organizing committee, third Hyosep Woo, Chairman of the IAHR-APD and fourth Prof. Dr. UEDA Tamon, Acting Executive Director and Chief Advisor of AUN/SEED-Net. Given the academic support received from four invited keynote speakers, Prof. Junji Kiyono, an academician from Kyoto University supported by SEED-Net secretariat, was presenting his research on “Ground Motion Characteristic of the 2016 Taiwan KAOHSIUNG-MEINONG Earthquake, Taiwan” at the event.

RCND2018 still continued a tradition of bringing researchers, academics, professionals and experts in the field of Natural Disaster together for the purposes of intensive communication and intellectual exchange. We hope that the most updated know-how, technology and researches could one day be more or less beneficial to the public in the long run. The involvement from industrial and the governmental sectors are much welcome always.

We thank you for all of your contribution and participation to the conference so far.
